It Takes a School draws on Kellie’s personal collection of film and photographic material, combined with archival images from the RGU Heritage Collection.

The resulting multi-channel installation weaves together the past and present in a layered, time-based portrait of Gray’s School of Art. Through the interplay of moving image and sound, Kellie explores the rhythms, gestures and quiet rituals that define creative practice that coalesce to create the feeling that is to be within Gray’s School.

This poetic and contemplative work celebrates the artistry that is inherently within the making process itself. It stands as both a reflection and tribute — a love letter to Gray’s, honouring the endurance of place, the passing on of knowledge, and the craftsmanship required to teach the poetry that lies at the heart of art education.
