Aberdeen is home to 8 brutal modernist tower blocks.
Housed within them are the lives of people who are often wrongly categorized and over looked. In his first short film, photographer Steven Smith explores the lives and societal preconceptions of those who call these towers home.
I was approached to collaborate with steve Smith to work as the films editor and to help resolve the wealth of material and interviews he had gathered in to the short film that became Towers. This project whilst initiated by Smith was a true collaboration, with the edit informing the footage being captured as much as the shape of the film was led by the imagery and stories Steve uncovered.
